On the eve of his Crucifixion, the Lord Jesus Christ prayed that His people may be one, as He is one with the Father. Unity speaks of peace, and ultimately points to our need to be at one with God.

John.17.21That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
