The Tenth Commandment does not speak of wicked deeds but wicked thoughts. Covetousness is a strong desire for that which God has forbidden us to take. It was at the heart of original sin and it can cause great damage to the spiritual life of a Christian. How can we avoid this sin and embrace the opposite positive virtue?
Exod.20.17Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.
